Soft Play, Trains & Zoo — New Family Event at Drayton Manor in 2026

Drayton Manor Resort is launching a brand-new seasonal experience this January that’s tailor-made for families with younger children: Soft Play, Trains & Zoo.

Running on selected weekends — 24–25 January and 31 January–1 February, 10am–3pm — the event offers a brilliant mix of indoor play, gentle transport fun, wildlife encounters and outdoor exploration for an excellent value from just £10 per person

What’s Included

This special winter event brings together a variety of activities that appeal particularly to toddlers and young kids:

  • 45-minute session in Emily’s Indoor Soft Play
A bright, weather-proof play space with slides, climbing features and interactive elements, ideal for burning off energy on chilly January days.

  • Train ride on the Sodor Railway with Thomas, Rosie & Percy
A scenic and relaxed journey through parts of the park up to the zoo, sure to be a highlight for Thomas & Friends fans.

  • Access to Drayton Manor Zoo
The park’s 15-acre animal attraction is included, giving families the chance to see species such as Andean bears, red pandas and capybaras.

  • Spencer’s Outdoor Adventure Play Area
Fresh-air fun awaits with climbing frames, tunnels and bridges designed for imaginative play.

  • Dino Trail exploration
Life-sized dinosaurs add a prehistoric twist to the walk between attractions.

Refreshments are available from a coffee cart near Emily’s Adventure Play and Mrs Kyndley’s Café in the zoo, offering hot drinks, snacks and light meals during the visit.

Booking & Practical Information

  • The event runs 10am–3pm on selected dates only.

  • A timeslot for Emily’s Adventure Play must be chosen when booking, as capacity is limited. Annual Passholders are also required to pre-book a soft play session.

  • There is a 1.3m height limit for Emily’s Adventure Play; children above this height can still enjoy the zoo, train ride and outdoor attractions.

  • Only the attractions listed are available during this event — regular theme park rides are not operating.

Why It’s Worth a Visit

Soft Play, Trains & Zoo provides a relaxed, half-day family outing that works particularly well during the quieter winter months. It offers:

  • Strong value for money outside the main theme park season

  • A balanced mix of indoor and outdoor activities regardless of weather

  • Unique experiences, combining Thomas & Friends train rides with a full zoo visit

For families looking for a low-stress, child-focused day out without large crowds or long queues, Drayton Manor’s latest winter event is a welcome addition. Advance booking is recommended, especially for soft play sessions.
