Pleasurewood Hills Confirms Plans for Four New Rides in 2026 Planning Submission

Pleasurewood Hills has submitted a full planning application to East Suffolk Council for the installation of four new rides within its existing park boundary in Lowestoft, marking one of the biggest ride expansions in the park’s recent history.

The application includes detailed site plans, engineering drawings and supporting documents that outline the planned attractions and their locations within the park.

What’s Included in the Application?

According to the publicly available documents from the council’s planning portal, the proposal covers the following four ride installations:

  • Spinning Coaster - Plans show a spinning wild-mouse style coaster of approximately 12 metres in height, likely featuring freely rotating cars for an unpredictable ride experience.

  • Apple Coaster - Drawings and a dedicated ride manual are listed in the application. This compact 5-metre-tall family coaster targets younger guests and will add a junior coaster credit to the park.

  • Big Wheel - This 36-metre-tall Big Wheel will offer panoramic views of Suffolk’s coastline. It's listed as a classic Ferris Wheel from Güven Amusement Rides.

  • Star Flyer - This 30-metre-all vertical swing ride will elevate riders high above the park with rotating seats suspended from long chains, typical of Star Flyer installations by AK Rides.

Site plans and photographs in the planning documents show where the rides are proposed to be situated within the current park footprint. All of the proposed attractions are to be located on areas of land that have historically accommodated rides or attractions. The proposals therefore do not involve development on undeveloped or greenfield land and represent the replacement and upgrading of attractions within an established theme park environment.

Context: A Bigger Relaunch for 2026

This planning application comes amidst a broader transformation of Pleasurewood Hills under its new owners, Premier Attractions, led by the Stokes family. Local reporting and industry sources had indicated that the park was targeting a spring 2026 relaunch with several new rides as part of efforts to revitalise the guest experience.

The planned additions would join the park’s existing lineup of rides, which already includes popular family and thrill attractions such as the classic Cannonball Express coaster and the UK’s only Vekoma Boomerang coaster, Wipeout.

What This Means for Guests and the Region

If approved, the four new rides will represent one of the most significant investment in Pleasurewood Hills’ recent history and a vote of confidence in the park’s ability to attract repeat visits and compete more strongly with other UK attractions. Enthusiasts and local residents alike have been watching developments closely, and the planning submission provides the first official confirmation of what’s being proposed.
